Hiring someone to document your family should be done with care and deliberation. I approach each family portrait or special event as an individual commissioned assignment. We converse about your family and their quirky attributes and endearing moments. We visualize the distinct personalities and charming interactions you wish to preserve. We select the appropriate setting and activities to emphasize and encourage the natural moments that you wish to document and keep sacred for future moments to come.
The commissioned documentary portrait session is designed as an unplanned, unorchestrated event. The best plan is to have no plan. We will decide on the setting and the situations prior to the day of the shoot, but once the cameras are out, a hands-off approach is necessary to achieve the emotions and quiet moments you wish to preserve from your loved ones.
Each assignment is planned with the same attention to detail that I give to multimillion dollar commercial clients and documentary subjects around the globe. Each shoot lasts approximately 2 hours, but this will vary depending on the location and activities we plan to document. The purpose of this shoot is to document your loved ones in their natural environment- relaxed, refreshed and joyful. To do this, we need to choose a location that your family is familiar with and choose activities that they are comfortable participating in.
